The Whitby 42 ketch has been a favorite among cruisers and liveaboards for many years. This Ketch has super accommodations for cruising couples and families. From her graceful shear to her beefy rig, the 42 was meant to explore. She is a very stable and forgiving boat. A big Lehman diesel, big tankage, comfortable/roomy cockpit, two staterooms and two heads, and a desirable ketch rig are why the Whitby has been so popular among cruisers and liveaboards. The Whitby 42's have a very large galley with separate refrigerator and freezer compartments.

Accommodations
The Practical Sailor reports that "Down below, the Whitby 42 really shines. The boat has one of the more livable interiors we have seen." The owners' stateroom aft is quite nice. This cabin has it's own companionway to the cockpit, and there is a custom folding ladder so it is out of the way when not needed. The double berth is spacious, and owners can sleep fore n' aft or athwartships. A hanging locker and lockers provide adequte storage. The aft head is huge, and has a shower, vanity and marine head.
A walk-in engine room has plenty of space for machinery, a genset, and working on the 80 hp Lehman.
The salon is very spacious and well ventilated. The two companionways also bring in lots of fresh air. The salon has a L-shaped settee to port, and another settee to starboard. The dining table folds up on the bulkhead when not in use. The table doubles in area when the wing is up. The Whitby 42 has tons of storage.
The forward cabin features a large V-berth with filler, and a private head with shower, vanity and marine WC. A hanging locker and smaller lockers provide storage for guests and crew. An opening hatch and opening ports bring in air and light.

The cockpit is truly spacious for a 42 footer. Not only is it deep, but it is also wide, with lots of room for owners and guests to sit while underway. Bridge decks are found at both the forward and aft companionways. The pedestal steering houses engine controls. A bimini provides shelter from sun and rain.
