9' ft WHITBY BOAT WORKS LTD. KETCH, WITH PRICE REDUCTION 1976 2008. She is now in the yard awaiting spring!
If you have previously visited this boats presentation, please check it again as the new electronics and electrical infrastructure additions are now included!!!And even more to come before the middle of February... N.B. N.B. N.B. While this Whitby was being prepared for early retirement days, a new focus in their life is taking their hearts inland. There has been an EXTREME REFIT done when the primary target was in place. I will be attending the vessel in the FIRST WEEK OF 2007 to do an update on pictures infrastructure and inventory. Some of the upgrades are listed below but electronics for navigation and electrical (110VAC) will be more detailed. Keep an eye on this page for more info! This is a great opportunity for someone with fairly immediate plans to depart on their anticipated adventure as this vessel will survey well and could easily be underway within weeks to the sunny south. She has had many recent upgrades to the infrastructure and as well she features some very nice custom appointments from Stainless ports to a serious boarding ladder. The interior wood was recently sanded and refinished and she is clean throughout. I have visited the vessel annually to see the enhancements of mechanical, plumbing and electrical improvements. She is new to the market in August 05 and should stand to a tough survey once again! Accommodations This long-time center cockpit vessel is favored for many reasons amongst which are the creature comforts for the not so rough and tough long distance or short holiday cruisers! Privacy, storage, cruising-range, cooking and personal space for hobbies, quiet times or sharing times are some of the most important features of the Whitby 42. Notwithstanding the standard tankage that provides large capacity for water and holding tanks, dry storage that protects clothing and other material items require an alpha-numeric record to know where you tucked away that future needed gadget! Of course Hot and Cold Pressure Water are available in each of the heads plus the galley. And Nicro-Fico solar powered fan/vents add to the fresh air flow as well the other vents have been enlarged. Galley The Galley in the Whitby comes with the regular amenities but one of the important ones lacking in many cruising vessels is a large size freezer and refrigerator with a capable cooling/freezing unit. The Whitby has that issue resolved. The 3 burner with oven stove, lots of dry storage for foods and cooking utensils, even large salad bowls and the like are available. A GE Microwave with turntable has also been added. Electrical & Electronics: Some serious upgrades were done to the Electrical and Electronics of this vessel in the 2002 and after period. They are significant, interesting and have improved the infrastructure of the 12V DC aswell as the 110V AC systems dramatically. I have the full list available on request and will be posting much of the detail here during February as well. The Paneltronics electrical management system combined the two voltages into one unit relocated at the Nav Station for easy access. Combined with the Freedom 30 inverter (& Charger), the Link 2000 and the rewiring of much of the 110V AC wiring all in 2000 or shortly thereafter is part of the upgrades. Additionally, I have some pictures available as well. I have been aboard annually to watch the progress of upgrades and enhancements since I helped the current owner purchase this vessel. I was aboard again in January 2007 and while she was on the hard in Annapolis, Joie de Vivre appears well and should prove to be cruise ready with very little needed to take her for recreational use or long distance cruising and liveaboard! More information has been developed and will be added shortly! Douglas
